Levy Performs Last Ditch Overtake for Victory in YMF R3 Cup

Race one of the YMF R3 Cup at Wakefield Park Raceway was one of the most epic of the day.  Zac Levy (Puma RV’S, Yamaha YZF-R3) executed his plan to perfection and took the win in the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli (ASBK) Round 2 at Wakefield Park Raceway.

It was a battle of attrition for the eight-lap race. Levy, Hunter Ford (South Sydney Commercial, Yamaha YZF-R3) and Locky Taylor (LT Racing, Yamaha YZF-R3) were engaged in a monumental battle for the victory for the entire duration of the race. Levy took a strategic win, overtaking on the final lap.

Levy sharing; “It was a great race, I managed to bide my time. I had the race played out in my head as it happened and I knew what I had to do to take that victory. I managed to get onto the back of Hunter Ford on that last lap and I got him on the brakes in that last corner. I had been planning that move throughout the race and managed to pull it off and execute the overtake. I managed to hold him out wide and hold on down the main straight. It all worked out nicely!”

Ford and Taylor both finished on the podium in second and third. Tayla Relph has had a great weekend so far, finishing in fourth, followed by Harry Khouri (5th), Tom Bramich (6th), Callum O Brien (7th) and John Lytras (8th).

Race Two and Three of the YMF R3 Cup take place at 9:35am and 15:05pm.
