The 2022 bLU cRU Oceania Junior Cup Calendar in the wild!

Australasia’s finest Junior Racing Academy, the bLU cRU Oceania Junior Cup (OJC), returns in 2022 to the circuits of Australia with a full field and talent aplenty. Now entering its fourth year since its inception, the 2022 OJC calendar will feature six rounds and 18 races across five different venues.

With identical machinery and equipment, the OJC offers the up-and-coming road racer the perfect pathway into the sport and beyond as the emphasis is on learning the craft, developing a range of skills while competing alongside the nation’s best in the mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship, presented by Motul (ASBK).

In recent years top finishers in the series have gone onto race in the Asia Talent Cup, Red Bull Rookies Cup, Australian Supersport 300, Yamaha R3 Cup and soon we will see our first Supersport competitors who can trace the start of their career back to the OJC.

In 2022, the 20 strong field will kick off their season at the world-famous Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit through to the Championship finale once again being held across the first weekend in December at The Bend Raceway in South Australia.

As well as the racing, the mentoring and attention that is offered to the riders is world class and in 2022 a 2-day OJC coaching event will be held after round one, at Winton Motor Raceway 1 – 2 March with Series Coach and well-credentialed racer, Alex Phillis.

For Series Category Manager, Martin Port, the OJC just keeps gathering momentum for very good reasons: ”This calendar offers the sort of diversity and opportunity that we think shows what the bLU cRU Oceania Junior Cup is all about; racing at our top circuits alongside the nation’s best with the guidance and assistance that will see the graduates of 2022 go on to bigger and better things.”

Motorcycling Australia CEO, Peter Doyle, notes that the ongoing success of the OJC is pleasing as it offers close racing as well as a reliable and recognised pathway for junior racers: “We’re really pleased to see a full grid once again for the 2022 season and ever increasing interest from riders and their families, the wider motorcycle industry and even from established teams in the ASBK Championship who have one eye on ‘who’s next’ coming into the senior categories.”

The 2022 bLU cRU Oceania Junior Cup kicks off with the official mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul test 27 – 28 January at the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit and returns there just a few weeks later for the start of the season proper with Round One – 25-27 February.
