ASBK ’22: DO IT ALL AGAIN AND END AT THE BEND IN ’22

Fresh from the terrific 2021 ASBK Grand Finale at The Bend Motorsport Park, today the mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul is pleased to announce that the Championship will return to race at the 4.95 kilometre International Circuit in 2022.

In 2021, calendar reshuffles resulted in the ASBK Grand Finale being held at The Bend during the first weekend in December which proved to be a huge success, so in 2022 the event will held from the 2nd– 4th of December to ‘’Do it all again’’.

The Bend Motorsport Park in 2022 will be round eight and again the Grand Finale of the mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul. Sunday night (4 December) will see The Bend also host the Night of Champions Awards to honour and applaud the ASBK Champions of season 2022.

After lowering the track record significantly in nearly all classes, the field will once again showcase the best in Australian superbike racing, with the top ASBK teams, riders and Championships in attendance.

For Peter Doyle, CEO of Motorcycling Australia, The Bend in 2022 will build upon the success of the 2021 event. “The whole ASBK team is excited to go back to The Bend in 2022. The 2021 event saw record crowds, lots of local and international interest and delivered fantastic racing by Australia’s fastest two-wheel ASBK competitors. We think the finale at The Bend in 2022 will see similar success. Having the final round in the first weekend of December might become a tradition, and who knows who might be able to come along…”

The Bend Motorsport Park Managing Director, Sam Shahin is similarly enthused: “On the back of an incredibly successful ASBK event at The Bend last weekend we are very pleased that we can lock in the same dates for 2022 with the prospect of again having international wildcard riders and crowning the ASBK Champions at The Bend. We look forward to welcoming back Australia’s best riders, plus the likes of Aussie Jack Miller, and hopefully seeing the return of Oli Bayliss following his first year in WorldSBK.

“We thank Motorcycling Australia and ASBK, the South Australian government and the South Australian Tourism Commission for making top-level superbike-racing possible at The Bend Motorsport Park.”

In the wake of the ASBK Round eight at The Bend Motorsport Park announcement today, the 2022 ASBK Calendar has now taken shape with eight exciting rounds across Australia, sure to bring some great racing and bring out the race fans to witness all the action.
