Legend Campbell ready for Tasmanian action

The expectancy is building with less than three weeks until the fourth round of the 2015 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul Pirelli.

The penultimate round of this year’s series will take place at Symmons Plains in Tasmania from 4-6 September, and the feeling on the Apple Isle is one of great anticipation.

Leading the charge in terms of excitement is Tasmanian Mal Campbell – a legend of the sport and one of the best Australian riders to ever come out of the southern state.

Speaking ahead of the event, multiple Australian Champion Campbell said that he is looking forward to the national series making its’ way down to Tasmania.

“On a national level it is really good for us. It is not just showcasing racing, but it is showcasing Tasmania – we need events like this down here,” he said.

“Tassie is a great place but if no one gets to hear about it, then no one will ever come and visit.

“The Australian Road Racing Championship and other events are all part of getting publicity out about the place which is fantastic.”

Campbell heaped praise on Motorcycling Australia for the decision to allow clubs to help organise rounds of the 2015 Championship, and paid a special tribute to the Tasmanian Motorcycle Club.

“I like the way that Motorcycling Australia this year has gone back to the clubs to help, because many years ago the clubs got pushed to the outer and lost interest in running events,” he said.

“Our club is part of MA and it is important to get clubs like ours involved and actually running these events – and I think you will find that everyone will be very happy with the event that MA and the Tasmanian Motorcycle Club puts on down here.

“You have to remember that we are just a little island, but our motorcycle club is the second oldest continually running motorcycle club in the British Empire, so we have been around longer than any other motorcycle club in Australia.

“We are pretty proud of that and we are pretty proud that we can help to put on a good event.”

The event will take place from 4-6 September, and there will be plenty of action both on and off the track for spectators of all ages.

As well as the racing action, spectators will be treated to a wonderful display of stunt riding, be able to browse trade alley, have the chance to get up-close-and-personal with the riders and there will even be a Come and Try area for kids to have a go riding.

Entries to compete in the round are still open and can be submitted via www.raceentry.com.au.
