Marcus Hamod to join Unitek Racing for 2027 ASBK season

Marcus Hamod is heading to new pastures, with the 18-year-old joining Unitek Racing to contest the 2027 Australian Superbike Championship presented by Pirelli (ASBK) in the premier Superbike class.

Hamod will switch from Honda to Yamaha machinery as he begins a new chapter with Unitek Racing, with his first appearance for the seasoned South Australian team at round one of ASBK from October 23-25 alongside the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island.

The Wollongong rider has already established an impressive racing resume despite his young age, highlighted by his Australian Supersport 300 Championship victory in 2023.

After progressing through the ASBK ranks onto Superbike machinery, Hamod’s maiden full-time season in 2026 was brought to an early end by health issues.

Now returning to competition, Hamod is looking forward to the new opportunity after a positive test with Unitek Racing at The Bend, which will host round two of ASBK action from November 13-15.

“I am really excited to be working with Unitek for the first ASBK round at Phillip Island alongside MotoGP,” said Hamod. “The team and I have done some testing and we both got along really well.

“I am happy to be back in the paddock as well after taking some time off, fixing a few things on my end. Keen to get stuck into it.”

Unitek Racing principal Donna Hoeymakers is delighted to be welcoming Hamod into the fold. She said: “Marcus is young, talented and fast. Our initial test has highlighted that the prospects of working together are very positive and we look forward to seeing what we can achieve as a team.”
