Toparis the face of SBG racing for 2027 ASBK season

Tom Toparis is the star signing for a brand new team that will compete in the 2027 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK), with SBG Racing putting in a mountain of work behind the scenes ahead of its inaugural tilt at the new-look summer title.

With Toparis returning to the Kawasaki Supersport Next Gen class aboard a Yamaha YZF-R9, he is the face of a three-bike team that will also field Josh Soderland in the Next Gen class aboard an R9 and team owner Paul Linkenbagh in the SW-Motech Superbike class. He will compete aboard a Yamaha YZF-R1.

Twenty-year-old Toparis makes the switch from Stop and Seal Racing, with a clear goal to regain the number one plate following back-to-back Australian Supersport titles in 2019 and 2020.

The new SBG Racing squad was built through months of planning, development, and long hours from the entire team. With support from two-time ASBK champion Jamie Stauffer, Wayne Goldstraw, Rob Nelson, Gabe Cross, Lachlan Nicholas and Glen Richards in their commitment and hard work to develop the race team and the motorcycles, the squad will be ready to prove a point, starting with the opening round at Phillip Island with Linkenbagh in the Superbike class before Toparis and Soderland join him for round two at The Bend.

With the talent and experience of Tom and Josh, coupled with the competitive package that SBG Racing has put together, it gives Linkenbagh great confidence that his riders will race competitively at the front of the field and contend for race wins.
