Phillip Island to host round six of 2025 ASBK Championship

By MA Media 0

One of the world’s most decorated grand prix circuits, Phillip Island, will make a standalone return to the mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul (ASBK) calendar in 2025 in a two-day meeting on September 6-7.

The round will be number six in the 2025 ASBK Championship, in a continuation of the condensed two-day format which proved to be so popular with stakeholders at the 2024 Phillip Island event.

For the Pirelli Superbike, Michelin Supersport and Race and Road Supersport 300 classes, September 6-7 will mark their second visit to the free-flowing Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in 2025, with all three also on the ASBK Championship roster alongside round one of the FIM Motul Superbike World Championship from February 23-25.

In Superbikes, reigning champion Josh Waters has been a master at Phillip Island in recent years, with only a few riders managing to crack the code and defeat the four-time champion.

That will inevitably be one of the Phillip Island storylines again in September 2025, where all spectators will receive free entry into the ASBK paddock.

The event will also feature off-track activities to entertain the family including pit walks, ‘Mini Moto Come and Try’ sessions for kids, the ASBK Trade Alley and the chance to meet their favourite ASBK riders during autograph sessions across the weekend. Competition winners will also experience thrilling pillion rides behind former ASBK champions Steve Martin and Troy Corser.

Phillip Island is also a brilliant place to visit, and highlights include its renowned surf beaches, Penguin Parade, the Koala Conservation Centre, Seal Rocks, the pioneering spirit of Churchill Island, and myriad dining options including freshly caught seafood.

And, within the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit precinct, there’s a 750-metre replica go-kart track and the history of motorsport display which includes 25 grand prix motorcycles.

“The ASBK Championship has been held at the Philip Island Grand Prix Circuit since 1989, so the historical connection between the two is profound,” said Motorcycling Australia CEO, Peter Doyle.

“And it’s the buzz of regularly competing on one of the most iconic pieces of tarmac in global motorsport that keeps riders and teams coming back for more.

“The 2025 ASBK Championship is shaping as another stellar season, particularly the September round as we approach the business end of the season.”
