What they said… Superbikes

1st – Mike Jones (Kawasaki) – Australian Outdoor Living / Cube Racing Team

“It feel’s really good and has certainly sunk in now after winning it last round.

“To come to this round at Phillip Island and not have to worry as much, just be able to concentrate on my riding – it certainly feels good knowing that I have the number one plate on there.

“Overall we are really happy – it is great for all hard work I’ve put in and of course the people that support me and the team as well.

“It’s good to have the status – it puts you amongst a high caliber of riders, and at the day that’s a goal of mine – to be the best rider that I possibly can.”

2nd – Daniel Falzon (Yamaha) – JD Racing

“I am very happy with second in the championship – we came into this year expecting it to be a learning year but from round one we showed quite good speed.

“We were always a little bit off Mike in the championship however we did reduce that gap significantly in the first few rounds and managed to get very close in Barbagello.

“It’s a great honour to bring home the inaugural Oceania championship for Australia.

“I felt confident in my bike and the team that we could win it here this weekend, and it is bittersweet with Ryan having a fall, but it allowed the Championship to fall in our lap and it’s a good thing.”

3rd – Ryan Hampton (BMW) – Next Gen Motorsports

“It has been a massive learning curve right the way through the whole season and the whole year.

“Every step of the way it has been experiencing new tracks and new setups and just playing around with things, so right the way through the season we have been learning and we have been progressing.

“Overall it has certainly been a huge experience for us, and I can’t thank the Next Gen team enough for providing that opportunity to be on board with them and make it all happen.

“In terms of Oceania, obviously the whole championship from the New Zealand point of view all stemmed on me, so it was definitely a disappointment to let that one go.

“A bit disappointing there but we will have another crack next year, and I hope that it is something that does progress forward as it is a good thing for the sport, defniately.”
