John Lytras joins Addicted to Track on two-year ASBK deal

Former Australian Supersport champion John Lytras will race with Addicted to Track (ATT) into the 2027-28 seasons of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK), signing a two-year contract with the squad that strengthens the team’s Superbike program ahead of the new ASBK summer season.

It’s part of a new two-rider Superbike line-up that also features New Zealand rider Richard Markham-Barrett, joining Lytras aboard a BMW S 1000 RR.

The Lytras/ATT partnership brings one of the paddock’s most familiar young faces under the racing team’s banner, with 21-year-old Lytras’ history in the ASBK Championship stretching back almost a decade. He began his career in the junior ranks before progressing through GP Juniors, Supersport 300 and eventually into Supersport, where he claimed the 2022 Australian Supersport title.

He has continued to campaign Yamaha machinery since that title and into his progression to the premier Superbike class in 2024, culminating with three consecutive top 10 overall points finishes.

With both Lytras and ATT being Queensland-based, the two-year partnership represents an opportunity to build a longer-term relationship both on and off the racetrack. That journey has already started, with Lytras recently taking up riding duties for the ‘2-Up Superbike Experience’ and rider coaching through the team’s ongoing collaboration with Queensland Raceway.

“I got to swing a leg over for a few laps last weekend with the Addicted to Track team,” he said.

“I am super grateful for this opportunity, and it was a super productive first few days, and I am already feeling comfortable with the bike and the team.

“I am super excited to go racing, with more testing planned in the coming weeks before round one.”

The opening round of the 2027 ASBK Championship will be at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, held alongside the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, on October 23-25. Click here to purchase tickets.
