Cameron stretches BLU CRU OJC lead after Morgan Park clean sweep

By MA Media 0

Thomas Cameron has one hand on the 2026 BLU CRU Oceania Junior Cup (OJC) trophy after a perfect scoreline in round three at Morgan Park Raceway from May 29-31.

The New South Welshman’s three from three – his second clean sweep of the season – has stretched his lead in the championship to 37pts over Callum Campbell with one round remaining at Queensland Raceway from June 28-30.

Cameron may have been just a little too crafty when it mattered most, but it certainly wasn’t a one-way show around a track which is a brilliant fit for the fleet of pint-sized Yamaha YZF-R15s. The racing was signature OJC: tight, tough, uncompromising, and with very little margin for error. And a stiff wind on Sunday also added an extra degree of difficulty into the equation.

The first two races produced the closest finishes of the weekend – margins of 0.185 and 0.011 seconds respectively – before Cameron signed off with nearly two seconds to spare in the finale.

Ryder McKenna and Jordan Lazar swapped second and third places in the opening six-lappers before the duo both came down at turn four in the finale – McKenna able to remount while Lazar was a DNF after the rookie’s most impressive performance to date.

Race three had already been shortened after Liam Fookes crashed out in the first attempt after being inadvertently struck from behind, with the Northern Territory rider requiring medical assistance.

Lucas Hyslop and Campbell completed the podium in race three.

With Cameron (199pts) and Campbell (162pts) sitting comfortably in first and second ahead of the finale at Queensland Raceway, the battle for third has tightened with McKenna (130pts) being closely followed by Patrick Lucchitti (126pts), Hyslop (125pts), Charlie Nichols (125pts), Fookes (116pts) and Lewis Birkle (115pts).
