Cru Halliday joins Stop and Seal in 2025

By MA Media 0

New South Welshman Cru Halliday’s ASBK Championship Superbike tenure will continue in 2025, with the 36-year-old joining the Queensland-based Stop and Seal team after parting ways with the Yamaha Racing Team.

That means Halliday will again ride a Yamaha R1M in the mi-bike Motorcycle Insurance Australian Superbike Championship presented by Motul, where he will be joined by Arthur Sissis and Tom Toparis in the team’s expanding Superbike wing.

Halliday’s YRT technician, former MotoGP mechanic Brent Stephens, will also join him at Stop and Seal, which has made a huge mark on the Australian circuit racing landscape in a short period of time.

Halliday’s switch comes after a lengthy stint with YRT, with the highlights including victory in the Supersport class and three podium finishes in Superbike – a second place in the truncated 2020 championship the high point.

Halliday’s 2024 season, which included a race victory at Sydney Motorsport Park, was cut short by a shoulder injury which saw him sit out the last five races.

“I’m heading into 2025 with a fresh outlook and a new team after 13 years with the Yamaha Racing team,” Halliday was quoted as saying in mcnews.com.au.

“I’ve been with YRT for so long I feel that we are almost family, but I need a breath of fresh air. I am starting to head to the pointy end of my career, and I thought I would try something new and branch out. There are no hard feelings with anyone in the team.

“I get on well with everyone at YRT, it’s just that I really feel that I just need something new to spark that drive back up in me and the Stop and Seal team is the perfect setup to continue my career in ASBK and dreams of becoming an ASBK champion.”

Stop and Seal’s 2025 Supersport team will comprise Archie McDonald, Jack Mahaffy – arguably the two fastest riders at the end of the 2024 season – and a third rider still to be announced.

Meanwhile, in other ASBK Championship news, Jack Favelle will step up to an Addicted to Track Yamaha Superbike in 2025, with his Supersport vacancy in the same team to be filled by 2024 Supersport 300 champion Josh Newman.

Josh Newman will be hoping to carry the same momentum from his title-winning season in Supersport 300 into his new venture with Addicted to Track

The opening round of the 2025 ASBK Championship will be held at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit alongside the FIM Motul Superbike World Championship. Get your tickets here.
